I have read a LOT of books on Spiritual Protection! Seriously, it must be numbering into dozens by now. I’ve found none that “have it all” as one-stop shopping. Most do cover some useful material, with varying degrees of drama or glitter tossed on top.
Of all the books I’ve bought on the topic, “Spiritual Protection: A Safety Manual for Energy Workers, Healers and Psychics” has to be one of my favorites because of it’s abundance of practical, hands-on advice. I saw some familiar practices I already know to be effective along with new ideas. The author clearly writes from experience and the book is quite accessible, making it a quick but valuable read. I consider it an excellent investment.
My only caveat: While I completely agree with the whole “do what works for you” philosophy, there were a few rituals presented for invoking specific deities (with whom the majority of the readers will not be familiar). The whole idea behind invoking deity in protection work is that you are calling upon entities that you have a developed a working relationship with.
I don’t consider it especially “dangerous” to call upon the spirits listed here even if you know nothing about them. I just consider it potentially ineffective at best, and rude at worst. With spirits as with people, I hesitate to stroll up and start demanding favors before I’ve introduced myself. You know?
